When we decided two years ago, to engage Rainer Kloss, whose first station as coach in Luxembourg was Black Star Mersch in 2008, we and he had a clear goal in mind: to grow up the Black Star Team with the help of young players, mostly our own youth players and build a team that, in some years, can step into the N1Total League. We are happy to announce that Ja’Kwan “Slinky” Jones has signed with Black Star for the upcoming season. He’ll be our 2nd pro player next to Duane Johnson. Slinky plays the forward position and is 2.00 m tall. He played at the Florida Southern College in NCAA the last two seasons. Last season he averaged 11.9 points while shooting 44.2 % and 6.9 rebounds per game. Some highlights are available here:
We are happy to confirm that our first men team managed, against all odds, to stay in the 2nd league with their core of very young players, that did a tremendous job this past season. We believe in this strategy of incorporating and building up a team of young local players and will further work in this direction. It is hence with great pleasure that we can already announce the homecoming of one of our young talents: Pit Hansen, our 16 year old point guard, will rejoin his home team of Black Star for the upcoming season.
