1. What do you think about the last season, the up and downs, and the relegation to N2?
Even though we didnt have as much success as we wanted to I still enjoyed this past seson in Mersch. We experienced a lot of growing pains because we had a very young and new team that was put together. Towards the end of the season we became more comfortable with each other and I think that helped us to win some games in the playdowns. The relegation to the N2 was unfortunate but I also think that it will help us as a team in the future.
2. How do you see your chances for next season to move up to DBBL again?
I think our chances to move back up again should be pretty good. I have never played in the N2 and I saw the league will be expanded to ten teams. I know my team will work hard and take the necessary steps to make it back to the DBBL so we will have to wait and see.
3. What do you think about Basketball in Luxembourg? What are the differences between your past playing stations and Luxembourg?
I like basketball in Luxembourg and even though the country is small the basketball is still very competitive. The size of players and their athletic ability is the biggest difference to me. Playing in the German BBL was great for me. There were a lot of great players there and you had to bring it every day in practice and on game day and that made me a better player I think.
4. How do you see your future? Are you staying in Luxembourg or do you see yourself playing in any other countries? What do you do after your player career?
I’m happy to be coming back to Mersch next season. I will be getting married in May of 2012 and we really like it here in Luxembourg. Lea has a job here so everything is working out for us at the moment. As far as playing in other countries I would rather stay here because Lea has the chance to work and I feel like I have a good situation in Mersch. After basketball I will be a history teacher and a basketball coach.
5. What was the best and worst moment you had in Luxembourg?
My worst moment in Luxembourg was definitely being released from Nitia. It was very tough for me to deal with because I had never experienced anything like that before. It also opened my eyes up a lot and taught me to never take anything for granted and play every game like its my last because you never know what will happen. My best moment would definitely be beating Sparta and my old teammate Pat because he did talk a lot of trash before that game 😉 And also our brand new ritual that we have on Thursdays after practice is nice… Off the court I really do enjoy my time here in Lux!
6. What do you want to say to the fans of Black Star?
To the fans of Black Star I would like to thank them all for staying patient with us during this season through all of our ups and downs. This team puts in a lot of work and at the end of the season we were finally able to put it all together. Hopefully the fans are proud of us and we will most definitely see better days here!!!
Thanks Billy, we all appreciate it! May you have a healthy and good season with Black Star!
