Black Star managed to win its own Electris Tournament in Mersch yesterday by beating Racing Luxembourg and Basket 98 Völklingen in the qualification round and winning the final against Esch (who previously won against US Heffingen and MJC Trier). Two week ahead of the beginning of the season, the team is on the right way, despite some difficulties in some games. Next and last practice game will be on Saturday against Walfer. Mike and Jarvis both landed safely in Luxembourg and started practicing with the team on the 26th of August. Black Star is pleased to announce the signing of their 2nd american player in Jarvis Williams. The 23 year old guard is 201 cm tall and comes fresh from Minnesota State University where he averaged 14.5 ppg on 50.7 % shooting and 5.5 rpg in 33 games. Black Star Mersch announces the first signee for the foreign spot in N2 next year. Mike Oppland is a 204cm tall forward born in 1984. The twin brother of Dan Oppland played the previous two seasons with his sibling for Allianz Swans Gmunden in Austria. He graduated from Valparaiso and entered the NBA Draft in 2007. He continued his carreer in Europe for Horsholm (DK), Namika Lahti and Korihait (SF), Braves and Ehingen (D). Last season in Austria he averaged 5.7ppg and 2.7 rpg on 56% FG and 15 min per game.
